Join Brian Gardner in the fight against Breast Cancer

I’ll be honest here… I wouldn’t have written this post if I hadn’t read WPCandy’s Wordpress Hoodie contest post. Not because I’m only in it for the Hoodie, which would be super cool to win, but because I had no idea that Brian Gardner was involved in the Chicago Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk.

Before getting to Brian Gardner, let me say that I’ve seen the ads for this event all over Chicago. In fact, I think I saw one on the CTA “L” this evening on my way home from work.

I’ve often pondered the event, and even wondered if it was something I could do.

I love walking through Chicago. Last week I went on a good ten mile journey down Clybourn from Fullerton to North, then headed east on North to the shore, and finally headed north all the way to Uptown before dropping back down Ashland to Fullerton.

It was a great walk and I loved every minute of it. Now how cool would it be to try and extend that to 60 miles and do it knowing it could help in the fight against breast cancer?

I’m SERIOUSLY giving this thing some thought. I’ll ponder on it some more, and if I think I can raise the $2,200 to enter I just might give it a go.

But in the meantime, Brian Gardner, a Wordpress theme designer who I have admired for some time now, is going for it full steam ahead.

He’s already off to a good start by working to raise the $2,200 online, and is fully committed to making the 60 mile trek a success. With this in mind, it would be a huge help to drop by and donate a few bucks to help him out.

And in regards to the WPCandy Wordpress Hoodie contest…

If I win, I’ll show up at the event and get a picture taken with the Hoodie, Brian Gardner and myself.

    7 times??? Wow!

I’m giving it some serious thought. It’s a big commitment though and one I want to make sure I can come through on should I decide to give it a go.

Thanks for stopping by… and you’re quite welcome for the link. It’s the least I can do!

Hey Eric, thanks for posting about the contest and Brian’s adventure!

It’s pretty sweet to see the support. It’s not looking good over at the contest on WPCandy, so you might just be winning that hoodie!

If you do get the hoodie and take a picture, don’t forget to send me a copy!

And without question you’ll be the first to get a copy of the pic should I get the chance to sport that hoodie.

One of my very best friends was just diagnosed with full blown breast cancer two weeks ago. It is shocking news even to those who have not, but know and love her. She will undergo surgery on the 28th and I will be right there beside her. These causes are needed so badly and worth the investment! I never thought I would be so ready to donate to a cause but now, here I am…..still getting over the shock that one minute you are laughing and having a great girl-friend lunch and then bang! Lives are drastically changed! Let this be a reminder to all of us to have thosre annual checkups!!
