Blue Dream Wordpress Theme Release
It’s a cold and snowy Monday morning here in Chicago, so nothing could start the day off better than a good cup of coffee and the discovery of a new Wordpress theme.
Meet Blue Dream.
Blue dream is a clean and revenue ready Wordpress theme with a three column layout and a top navigation that gets right to the point. The theme comes preloaded with a killer set of icons that sit at the top right of the design. There is one for feedburner, one for Technorati, and one for RSS.
Blue Dream is widget ready, and looks like it will be fairly easy to edit or customized to meet your needs.
The only downside that I can see is that the theme appears to load a bit slow. Not sure what the hang up is, but both times I pulled up the page the theme struggled to “pop” in to view.
If you can get that fixed, you’ll find this to be a great theme. Visit the official theme page and grab a copy.
I’ve been meaning to get this post up, but thanks to time constraints and a very busy week I simply haven’t had the chance until now. So here goes…
Did you know you can actually get a custom Wordpress theme designed for less than $100? Believe it.
If you’re on the constant look out for a solid, experienced, “off the beaten path” Wordpress Theme designer, Girly Blog Designz might be a great place to start. Yes, I’m posting affiliate links here, but I have a unique attachment to GBD that most do not.
I host two blogs that use some of their best work to date. These two bloggers are taking advantage of my free Wordpress hosting over at Conservablogs.com, and their designs, thanks to GBD, are two of the best Continue Reading
Shoemoney points us to Silicon Alley Insider story that suggests, according to sources, Yahoo is getting ready to can 1500-2500 of its employees.
Last night we reported a tip that Yahoo has created a list of 1,500-2,500 jobs that may be cut within two weeks and that Jerry Yang will make the decision to go ahead with the layoffs–or not–this week. We have now received additional details from the same source, who has been reliable in the past.
The decisions appears to be based on poor stock performance.
The decision to go ahead with lay-off is said to be largely dependent on stock price: Yahoo’s stock trading in the low $20s has gotten Jerry’s and president Sue Decker’s attention. Jerry will feel vulnerable if the stock goes into the teens and will try whatever he can to prop it up. He’s not ready to give up the CEO job, sell-out, or shop the company around at this point.
Ouch.

The gamers are going to eat this bad boy up without question, but this super screen will likely reach out to a wider audience simply because of its sheer coolness.
I mean, I dig my 1280 wide screen on my laptop, but it’s NOTHING compared to a whopping 2880!!!
Gizmodo has the full scoop on this chunk of super monitor goodness from Alienware.
We can’t have one of these Alienware curved monitors until the second half of this year, but until then, we’ve been abducted by its four nearly seamless and sharp screens of DLP goodness. Lit by LEDs, this 2880×900 monster is well over three feet wide and is said to have an other-worldly .02ms response time, great for gaming.
Can’t wait to see what the price tag will look like. My guess is the cost will be just as jaw dropping as the monitor itself.
Time will tell…
OK… I got it. Trying to run several different blogs on the site was a pain in the ass. Not just for me, but for you. Up until today I was running SE Tattler, Blogging Tips, and my “personal” blog on the same site and server, but on separate Wordpress installs.
The original logic was sound, I believe, but proved to be far more time consuming for myself as well as my readers.
Why did I try it? Well, it’s worked wonders for my political site, ConservaBlogs.com. Over at CB we have more than 20 Wordpress installs running on the same domain and server. Google is LOVING having each independent site with a different political niche on its own install. Each blog also has its own sitemap, and the search engine traffic is constantly on the rise.
In fact, it’s fairly safe to say that we’ll be breaking 90,000 unique visits per month over at CB from here on out. Time and time again I’ve posted a page that went on to outrank BIG sites like RealClearPolitics and ABC News within a matter of minutes. Some of those keyphrases brought an instead 900+ unique visits. Continue Reading
It’s been a VERY busy Saturday. I’ve had to swim around Wordpress code all day. Both on this blog, as well as several others.
Working in the Wordpress code structure is something I actually enjoy, providing I have very loud and very well paced trance music pumping in to my head. I never have been able to figure out why, but for some reason the blends of electronically created sounds and melodies keep me focused and I tend to be far more productive when the beats are flowing non stop.
Usually I pull down mp3’s from various websites and blogs who have peeps who mix them and toss them on to a page for free downloads. But for the last week or two I’ve been stuck on one of the Digitally Imported streams.
In this case, it’s the Tribal House Stream. My love for house isn’t anywhere near as strong as it is for trance, but the DI Tribal House stream is starting to pull me a little in that direction.
… and this is how I dressed.

Why? Well, today the average temperature is going to hover at around 4 degrees with a wind chill of -15. It might even dip down quite a bit into the evening.
Yes, Chicago can be brutal in the winter. Here is a screenshot I took before I left for the bank.

I discovered frozen tears on both sides of my face while peeling everything off after getting home.
Ouch.
Phil Hughes, pitcher for the New York Yankees, recently started a Wordpress.com blog. His blog is kind of cool because it shows more personal side to Hughes compared to what you would get with the media or the Yankees PR machine.
Hughes has yet to edit his about page, so you won’t find much there, but he has a handful of posts up with topics ranging from ideas on what to on over the weekend to spending time with family over the holidays.
I wish more people of his status level would join the rest of us in the blogosphere. It’s pleasant to know we’re all one big community and people like Hughes feel they need to be a part of it.
Oh… and yes… I’m still a Cubs fan.
