There is a definite difference. The average american person is having to make critical choices about healthcare and is streached to the breaking point. I for one an young and healthy and had to pay $500 a month for COBRA insurance coverage before working. We are in a situation where we do not feel secure and that is partly the media's fault and partly nepotism. That is why Barack Obama is attracting the amount of crowds, because there is something to believe in, even though his ideas are ridicious. There is a definite difference between rich and poor. The middle class is barely holding on to the status that they are achieving where the wealthy are finding new ways of getting wealthier ( 9 figure CEO salary and their performance was poor). We need people who are going to make a difference, not the same jokers who are reciting the same platitudes as before. Did you realize that "Healthcare coverage for all" was in the 1976 Democratic Platform and the issue gets raised every four years? For me, I really do not care about whose political party solves the problems or if they should even be doing so. Many of the economic issues were a long time coming. There were many more foreclosures a year before the media labeled it "The Sub-prime Crisis." People are disinchanted because they are losing jobs (auto industry) while the Federal Government is helping in a near bailout of Bear Stearns. It will be interesting to see what happens.

It's funny how the current economic downturn is being touted as a failure of the Bush administration. Let's not forget that when his tax cuts kicked in, in 2002, it sparked 65 months of continued job growth! We saw record levels of tax income, and we saw that the poorest quintile of Americans had the greatest percentage increase in income (try finding that fact on CNN, the NY times). Now that the democrats are in charge, somehow the economic troubles are the fault of the same man who brought us such impressive and under-reported growth. BS.
