Setting the record straight…
The tea party movement has been a tremendous boost to the cause of liberty this year. As many have pointed out, there would be several major pieces of dangerous legislation passed through Congress had it not been for the movement.
There is no question that this movement has accomplished great things.
But, unfortunately, there are certain fractions of the effort that are damaging to the movement and dangerous for the potential successes ahead of us. Some of these individuals have stooped to ego driven power grabs and personal attacks against others. Continue Reading
I’ll be joining a fine group of bloggers this weekend for SamSphere Chicago. As an organizer for the event, I’m guessing I won’t have a lot of time to blog, but I’ll try and post updates and notes on the event as time permits.

My previous post pointed out the fact that I was on my way to O’Hare for a flight to DC, and that I assumed I would have issues getting out of the airport in the middle of a near blizzard.
Sure enough… I did.
It all started yesterday when my 2:00 PM United Airlines reservation was bumped to an earlier departure. Then, when I tried to check in online, I found out the second flight had been canceled.
Two down… third time should be a charm right?
Wrong.
This morning when I FINALLY got to the airport (took forever to hail a cab and then sludge through snowy messy Chicago traffic), I was told upon check in that my THIRD flight had been canceled.
I was then booked on UAL flight 610 leaving at 11:00 AM. Continue Reading
I’m getting ready to make my way to O’Hare International Airport, so the chances are high that I’m about to deal with canceled flights and the O’Hare nightmare that Chicagoans have become all too familiar with. If for some odd reason everything goes well, I’ll be in Washington D.C. tonight.
Tomorrow morning kicks off CPAC 2008, and I’ve been privileged to have a seat on “Bloggers Row”. I’ll be blogging CPAC here at Fresh Vision Media, over at ConservaBlogs.com, as well as the Sam Adams Alliance blog.
CPAC this year should be VERY interesting… especially after our “non-super” Tuesday finished out with McCain in the lead. As I understand it, McCain, Romney, Paul and Huckabee will be speaking, as well as President Bush and Vice President Cheney.
Being on Bloggers Row will give me a superb chance to meet a LOT of people at CPAC, so I’ll do my best to take pictures and post about it as often as possible.
Stay tuned!

… and this is how I dressed.

Why? Well, today the average temperature is going to hover at around 4 degrees with a wind chill of -15. It might even dip down quite a bit into the evening.
Yes, Chicago can be brutal in the winter. Here is a screenshot I took before I left for the bank.

I discovered frozen tears on both sides of my face while peeling everything off after getting home.
Ouch.
I’m finally starting to get used to the idea of living here in Chicago. It took a good two and a half months to start feeling as if it were my home, but I’m finally there.
Last Christmas I flew back to Nevada and almost instantly felt like I lived in Nevada again. It was hard to believe that I would be boarding a plane to come back to my apartment in… Chicago.
When I did fly back in from Nevada I kind of felt, at the time, that I was once again visiting the windy city. You know… like an extended vacation.
But since then it has started to really sink in. Last week I did an interview for the Las Vegas Weekly, and the Continue Reading
Let me start out by saying that apart from what you’re about to read, I love Chicago. It’s a great city with a diverse culture that some how works really well as a whole. The general person to person attitude here is better than most places I’ve ever been, and I’ve been around the world several times.
Chicago is also home to one of the most corrupt bodies of government I have seen in my lifetime. And while most here will admit they are over taxed and governed by corrupt politicians, they seem to be all too happy to remain trusting said government.
Why? I just don’t get it. Continue Reading
According to a story in today’s online version of the Chicago Sun-Times, Chicagoans don’t necessarily agree with Illinois Government.
The Sun Times piece, titled “A year in the hoods“, paints a picture that is certainly nothing shy of a slap in the face to our founding fathers. The first half of the piece talks of citizens having to constantly fight with government over corrupt moves for money and power.
From money hungry Aldermen looking to “condemn” perfectly good buildings in order to legally steal the property and sell it to wealthy condo developers, to the Chicago mayor calling citizens “racists” for not supporting a children’s museum, Illinois has a plethora of corrupt politicians with little interest in doing what is right for the public and full intent on power grabs.
But Chicagoans are a breed who, when pushed, have no problem pushing back. Continue Reading
