Do we as bloggers really need to be A-List?
It’s official… I’ve now been addicted to the blogosphere for five years. My addiction spans far beyond the act of blogging itself. In fact, I’ve actually spent a great deal of time studying and trying to understand what blogging is and where it might take us.
Much to my own surprise, I now see the new media movement much differently than I did back when I first started dabbling with the concept. Back then I took the “sphere” part literally, and I focused a lot of my time on being a part of this “sphere” everyone was chattering about.
I remember the first time I read Hugh Hewitt’s book “blog”, and I remember finishing the last chapter with great enthusiasm. I studied the work of Lorelle VanFossen, Glenn Reynolds, Ed Morrissey, the guys at Powerline and many others. I monitored traffic trends, worked with PPC programs, watched networks work together in pushing big stories, and participated in just about every online forum possible.
I’ve been fortunate in my way of thinking in that I never sought blogging success for myself; Rather, I wanted to do what I could to help others succeed online with what they were already doing offline. I credit this mentality for what I see as a decent understanding of how it all works, and how we can immerse ourselves in it to further the freedom movement.

Well, not really. Actually, not at all.
A little over a year ago:
1. Consumer confidence stood at a 5-year high;
2. Regular gasoline averaged under $2.30 a gallon;
3. The unemployment rate was down to 4.4%.
4. Americans were enjoying historically-high home equity.
Since voting in a Democrat Congress in 2006 we have seen:
1. Consumer confidence plummet;
2. The cost of regular gasoline soar to over $3.25 a gallon;
3. Unemployment rise to 4.8% (a 9% increase);
4. American home equity hit the lowest point in six decades;

It can be rather astonishing to look back to the beginning of our country and ponder the thoughts of our founding fathers. Even more astonishing is how far we’ve strayed from the mentality displayed in those times.
Each State, in ratifying the Constitution, is considered as a sovereign body, independent of all others, and only to be bound by its own voluntary act. -James Madison

It’s interesting to watch a situation unfold where DailyKOS, the left’s web based champion of freedom and democracy, is apparently trying to hide revealing information on one of its own… Bill Foster.
Within hours of a majorityap.com report that a DailyKos user had posted court records from the contentious divorce proceedings of Illinois millionaire Bill Foster, the link was deleted.
Foster is the Democrat candidate in the race to succeed former House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert. A special election will be held Saturday, March 8, to fill the remainder of Hastert’s term.
Yep, DailyKOS is for transparency and open public records when it is a Republican taking the heat. But if it’s a wealthy Democrat they’ll do whatever it takes to minimize political damage.
I can understand the desire to promote your party, but why protect a guy who doesn’t vote in most cases and has a shady personal life?
Foster is a first-time office seeker who has moved in and out of the district, and has rarely voted in general elections. Foster did not vote in 2006 – the last Congressional election – when Laesch was a candidate.
Foster’s divorce records include several embarrassing, and potentially damaging, revelations. Among them, Foster’s then-wife Ann claimed under oath that the millionaire politician “pushed, shoved and caused physical abuse and emotional harm…putting her in fear for herself (and the couple’s) minor children.”
Why on earth would the left want to protect and embrace this kind of ilk? I just don’t get it.
FREE THE READINGTON 29!
Thomas Jefferson famously said that “The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions that I wish it to be always kept alive.” Well, Tommy J would be awfully proud of some two dozen kids in New Jersey today.
It seems the students at Readington Middle School (RMS) in Hunterdon County aren’t happy with the short amount of time they get for lunch every day. So in the finest American tradition – think “Boston Tea Party” – some of them came up with a novel way to protest the perceived injustice.
“Some 29 seventh- and eighth-graders at the school banded together during last Thursday’s 30-minute lunch period and paid for their $2 lunches with pennies,” reports the New Jersey Star-Ledger this morning. “That amounted to 5,800 individual, or 32 pounds, of pennies.” Continue Reading
John McCain’s campaign staff might want to start paying attention to the chatter going on in the left wing side of the blogosphere regarding his search engine results.
It is time to start bomb bomb bomb, bomb bombing again. No, not Iran, but John McCain’s Google ranking.
In looking for a search engine optimization against McCain, the first step is to choose good websites to optimize. Here some criteria for good websites:
* The website should already be in the Google top 100, for searches on John McCain, making it easier to increase the ranking over time.
* The website should have the word “McCain” in the title of the search result making it easier to optimize.
* The website should be from a well-known news source, making is less obviously a partisan attack.
* The website should have a long life span, and not in danger of being removed before the general election.
* The website should be a negative news story on McCain, not an opinion piece.
So, in essence, the left isn’t even trying to hide their efforts. Instead, they openly admit their shady practices and bluntly put together a game plan via a publically accessible blog post. Continue Reading
It’s double trouble for a Rock Hill family. First they lose their house through eminent domain. Then the city sues them for removing items from their house before it was demolished. FOX 2’s Elliott Davis asks what’s really behind the lawsuit in this You Paid For It report.
